8. aaaagh noooooo schrieb am 17. August 2007 um 3:02 am

I don’t know why, but from the beginning I sympathized with Light…it seems like one of those ‘poetic justice’ endings, but I hate those >_

9. ZeroInfection schrieb am 17. August 2007 um 3:25 am

crazy…Light should’ve won…But I wish he’d had a heart of some sort ofter gaining the book…He didn’t care about anything…

I think the death note helps maintain a balance in the world, that’s why they drop them. It’s not “Ooops, I think I dropped my death note which I shouldnt’ve been carrying that close to the edge anyway, let’s play poker haha.”

Light was such a good character, they shouldn’tve made him so damn heartless. I was hoping he’d win, too. Damn you Near…

Successor? Didn’t L say that Light was to be his successor if he were to die? WTF is with that Near guy? Is he too much of a baby to accept that Light is better!?

But I wonder what made the police and L think it was supernatural…It just…People won’t believe that shit in the real world…But I guess that’s what makes it so interesting.

10. Pissed schrieb am 17. August 2007 um 4:03 am

mutha fucka. Near is a gay ass little bitch. i just woulda choked his ass dead or shanked him or some shit. w/e, i wish he woulda fucked misa duting the series. LOL. Did light die a virgin?

11. Angry fan schrieb am 17. August 2007 um 9:46 am

DAMN YOU NEAR! Damn, I’m so pissed at that ending…. I was always at Light’s side, even when he was a bit crazy… NEar and the others hsould have died and Light should have taken over and made his perfect world! They should have made a second ending with Light winning, showing us that the “good guys” dosn’t allways win!

12. kathleen schrieb am 17. August 2007 um 1:33 pm

i like how the ending was made…but i wanted light to win! man! i really thought he wud win! i hate Near! and i HATE that L had to die! freakin bull crap! it made the anime so boring except till the ending..

13. kathleen schrieb am 17. August 2007 um 1:35 pm

oh yeah i love how you guys describe Near…i laughed so much!

14. Real schrieb am 17. August 2007 um 5:37 pm

The fact of the matter which im surprised seems to elude all of you, is that although light was a good character at the beginning, he was becoming just another powerhungry madman with a god complex. Which all know, will fall due to their own pride. Near just proved that point with using a weakness in one of Kira’s followers to design his downfall.

Real

15. Anti-GayComments schrieb am 17. August 2007 um 6:45 pm

Yo number 14 your comment was the most gay one because Light is the best forever and the ending was gay but not much as you .Next time write a good comment or i will cut your head and your organs with Near and you will cry like a fucking baby so SHUT THE FUCK OFF UNDERSTAND? BEFORE ALL THE FANS WE KICK YOU OFF

16. Dona B. schrieb am 17. August 2007 um 10:59 pm

GAY ENDING. They should’ve killed off Near instead of Light.

17. McDo schrieb am 18. August 2007 um 9:00 am

19. Ruyzaki schrieb am 18. August 2007 um 4:30 pm

first time I saw the last episode I was so mad. Near is so annoying! and I feel sorry for Light… A friend of mine told me the author wanted Light to win but the TV-company wouldn’t air it, so he had to re-wright the end just to get it aired. It sucks, but I think it was a pretty good ending to a wonderful animé.

20. Eykoi schrieb am 19. August 2007 um 1:18 am

Gay ending

Light should have won

21. claidissa schrieb am 19. August 2007 um 11:14 pm

Light should have won and made his perfect world. Even so, it was a great anime and very well written. Wish light had succeeded tho, sick of every story coming out with the ideal good guys winning.

22. kyo schrieb am 20. August 2007 um 9:15 am

I am totally very disappointed with this anime! I loved it but the ending just ruined a good story. Totally disappointed!

23. kyo schrieb am 20. August 2007 um 9:20 am

24. Common Sense schrieb am 20. August 2007 um 11:10 pm

Its funny how all the males here said “fuck near.. light should have won!” there’s a msg after this anime u dorks .. not just OMG this guy is so cool!! he owns!! .. Light deserved to die and no one has the right to judge people other than god! why should light judge people and we can’t huh? he’s human as well as we are… but he was killed in the end.. cuz he’s nothing but a weak mortal.. u guys are too brainless

25. Scorch schrieb am 21. August 2007 um 12:57 am

This ending was predictable but not what I wanted.

26. Anadriel schrieb am 22. August 2007 um 3:01 am

Great ending! had me on the edge of my seat. If Light won then there’d be no ending, and it would get boring…
and I agree with comments 14 and 24.

27. Kokoro schrieb am 22. August 2007 um 8:59 pm

28. Ren the great schrieb am 23. August 2007 um 3:32 am

Wow,…I actually cried for poor Light. I hate when all of my favorite characters die. As much as I wanted Light to win and create his perfect world, i knew it wasn’t going to happen. As for comment 19, i agree with you. I really am courios as to if light was supost to win or not. It would have made the story even more unique and fantastic than it already is but still. Geez, it’s just hard, I wish Light had won but then I also think this was the way to give it a solid ending. Over all one of the best series i have ever watched.

thats just your oppinion of the seiries…so yeah, other ppl might have a different point of view, like me, i thought that they couldve let light live and go on with the seiries a lil bit more.

35. Yagami Light schrieb am 25. August 2007 um 4:09 am

JUSTICE IS SERVED!! Light had it coming that son of a bitch is nothing but a coward he did not care for anyone not even his own family. He got what he deserved like always: inocence has defeated evil. Don’t you ge it? Near is L’s reincarnation, Near didn’t won it was L didn’t you see his face at the end? Light is guilty and has paid , evryone has to pay the price of believing themselve God.

KIRA IS DEAD!!! NEAR, MELLO…. L HAS WON

37. Jumpeplowski schrieb am 26. August 2007 um 1:50 am

One word:

AAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!

I HATE! this ending!

Was good for the first 20 episodes, the rest wasn’t as consistently good. This is still probably the best or one of the best animes I’ve ever seen. Good show.

38. gbf schrieb am 26. August 2007 um 5:11 am

why don’t Near and Matsuda died?!

39. Giligan schrieb am 26. August 2007 um 10:44 am

actually, i knew from very start Light will die, and think about it, when they would add more chapters, but chapters wchich would have no sence, like those damned add ons to naruto/FMA, this would totally fuck this anime up. right now ending is good, i know there would be much opposites, actually i sympathized with Light from a very start, but think of it again, if Light would won, this would be just another anime.

40. smudge schrieb am 26. August 2007 um 6:29 pm

Extreme bitching. Seriously, who didn’t predict Light would die since episode 1? Some people here think that Light actually exists. It’s a fucking cartoon.

I liked the ending. Everything came full-circle, which is how all great stories end.

41. person schrieb am 27. August 2007 um 7:05 pm

LOL. the first and the most bold.

43. person commenting schrieb am 29. August 2007 um 3:58 am

i don’t care what any of you said……..but i like this ending….

yay near for finally taking out light (even tho i wanted L to be the one)

yay matsuda for getting the gun out

and yay ryuk for actually killing light

seriously, once light got his scary little fingers on the note all he’s become is a selfish heartless evil bastard with a weird view of “justice.” of all the people he manipulated, killed, and just pretty much used as pawns…he seriously deserved this death.
and he deserves it for killing his dad and for killing L

and luckily, L didn’t die in vain

44. Shinobi schrieb am 29. August 2007 um 11:05 am

I loved this anime series. One of the best I’ve ever seen since Kenshin. I agree with most of you guys about wanting Light to win, but, as some of the VERY few has said, it was predictable that would end up dieing.

A world can’t be built on the slaughter of countless humans. People would only live in fear. Even in the series itself, while there were those who followed him, MOST of them were just idiots who couldn’t think for themselves or they wanted to make a profit by giving the idiots what they wanted (the tv stations and his “spokespersons”).

It would have been nice to see Light create his perfect world, but if you think about it, in his mindset, he would be the only one fit to live in that world. Anything he considered wrong would be your death.

I do wish they had let him die with a LITTLE more dignity tho, but I guess it all goes back to his personality AFTER he got the book.

Eh…Ryuk warned him in the beginning anyway.

Excellent series, the ending didn’t make me happy, but it was inevitable.

45. Limarc schrieb am 01. September 2007 um 2:51 am

this was definately the best anime ever created atleast i think so it keeps everyone watching i stayed up til 5 am watching or reading it sometimes yeah i was sad that light died but i was also sad that L died too but yeah in the end light has to die i think if they extended it it would start to get boring its true it was inevitable but still great series (Y)

46. Jjekyl schrieb am 01. September 2007 um 5:07 am

Until the very end Ryuk never voiced an allegiance. Don’t be fooled by the apples, I will indeed be the one who will kill you Light.

47. Tribor schrieb am 01. September 2007 um 9:20 am

You guys come on, you all knew that Light couldn’t win. It was an interresting show, enjoy it.

48. kesto schrieb am 01. September 2007 um 11:11 am

dude wtf man, even thought Light was the “bad guy” cause he did all that shyt, but what he did it for and the effects to the world only turned for the good, it was just a way to change the world for the better, even though it was a crime. but other than kira, HOW THE FK ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO KILL ALL THE CRIMES HUH?

in another word, think about it this way, Light killed bad people, other than the ones that got in his way, but if he didnt kill the bad people, MORE INNOCENT (GOOD) PEOPLE WOULD DIE, i don’t know about you idiots, but i would rather have more bad people die than innocents.

49. A Fan schrieb am 02. September 2007 um 1:50 am

50. Amy schrieb am 02. September 2007 um 5:24 pm

I wanted the good guys to win. ^_^;; If Light had won, the series wouldn’t have ended ended, if you get me… He would’ve just kept killing people for really small things (remember in a past ep, when that guy said “He’s gonna start killing people for being lazy?”). I’m deffo agreeing with comment 43 - when Matsuda started shooting I was on the edge of my seat!

And as for me, the “face”/moon at the end looked like L’s eye!

GO TEAM L! ^_^

51. Mello_and_Near_surpass_L schrieb am 02. September 2007 um 7:12 pm

52. I schrieb am 02. September 2007 um 7:49 pm

Hey 48 and WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO DECIDE WHO MUST DIE AND LIVE? IT’S SO MUCH FUCKIN EASIER AND COWARD TO KILL BAD PEOPLE INSTEAD TO HELPING SOCIETY FOR PREVENTING MORE BAD PEOPLE TO APPEAR. OR YOU’RE SO MUCH BETTER OR ANY OF US. LIGHT WASN’T A GOOD GUY HE WAS A STUPID ARROGANT THAT WANTED TO DO THINGS HIS WAY

58. a schrieb am 05. September 2007 um 1:00 am

59. kyo schrieb am 05. September 2007 um 2:52 am

One thing you people must understand when you say THAT NOONE HAS A RIGHT TO JUDGE PEOPLE (SOME OF YOU EVEN SAID GOD DOES) leaving god out of this but as you all said us humans dnt have the right… than why does LAW ha the rght to judge (when it was made by us humans) why does the JUDGE in a court has a the right to judge and the jury’s?? well well are they not all human? Like light said in one of the ep. that everyone wants to be so POLITICALLY CORRECT and be all nice and good… well everyone of us has passed some sort of judgement on other people atleast once in our lifes if not everyday of it.

60. Matt schrieb am 05. September 2007 um 7:26 pm

The ending was brilliant. I liked how the anime tried to convince you, that Light would win, and even how it got you to sympathize with Light so you _wanted_ him to win. But he had to die.

I also didn’t really like Near.

61. yuki schrieb am 06. September 2007 um 1:50 am

hm….there’s a lot of not nice comments on this ep….but what i really wat to know is what happens to light scince he cant go to heaven or hell…. I really wated that to be answered but it wasnt….hmm…well…i liked the end i thought it was good. but i agree with most of the people who commented, i thought light should have won and near is gay.
matsuda was ctually cool in this ep though becuse he actually showed some courage….

62. Jay schrieb am 06. September 2007 um 4:24 am

i dont know why people wanted light to win he killed inocient people he’s no differnt then the murderes he was killing although some of his victoms deserved to die it wouldnt really be fare if near and all those other guys died. they diddnt do anything but Takada or what ever her name is deserved to die she killed mello so i have no complaints about that. but common near? wtf did he do?

64. Not A Near Fanboy ^^ schrieb am 06. September 2007 um 9:51 pm

Light HAD to die. I’m not saying Light’s a good/bad guy.
But the ending is to prove that people who become too obsessed with power will die in the end. There is no such thing as a perfect world! If Near and the rest did they, then what would the world have become like? People would live in constant fear of getting killed.

65. Jason schrieb am 07. September 2007 um 1:38 pm

#61 - Light couldn’t go to heaven or hell. If you read the subtitles carefully, a little before the end of the last episode, it says that the person will go into “Nothingness,” which basically means he’s been damned into non-existence where he can “think” about what he’s done. If he can still think while being in nothingness that is.

66. Sephikus schrieb am 07. September 2007 um 9:16 pm

Of Course light had to lose he was insane. But I preferred Ryuuzaki(L) over Near or Mello too but he had to die or else they would have had to end way back then. Light’s decline into insanity began the second he picked up the book. It was like a whisper in the back of his mind telling him to use it. Each time he did use it the whisper got louder. and for those who think light is “good” he isn’t but he isn’t truely evil either. Light was more like Lawful Evil. He followed the rule of law and only killed those society had deemed criminals. But then he began to go insane and he lost his sense of what is justice and began to kill anyone who stood in his way. When it was time to kill Ryuuzaki he couldn’t bring himself to do it, he hadn’t gone far enough off the deep end, but when he was willing to kill his own sister he was too far gone to save. Honestly I’m glad light died because it gives true evil a chance to sprout up and flourish once more.

Light should’ve won!!! I hate that stupid little shit Near, I wanted to see how he would die lol. I wanted to see Light ruling the world.
Light is pretty nuts. lol everytime he confesses he’s Kira he always mentions it two to four times XD. Oh well…..It was a good anime show.
It would have been better if they made more episodes. Oh yea! When Misa was on top on the rooftop I wonder if she commited suicide…

69. danieL schrieb am 08. September 2007 um 3:22 am

I believe that this ending illustrates how we all live inside of imperfection, and no one and no thing can change that. Light had good intentions, yet death prematurely instilled by another is considered unjust. L had the correct idea of stopping Kira, although it does seem Kira helped the world.

Truly, no one should possess such a power. It cannot be utilized effectively due to each of our own prejudice and personal feelings that conflict from true divine wisdom. Life is what it is, and we all wish to change it in our own way, yet it some things are simply not in the hands of us individuals.

It’s the selfishness of humanity that causes crime and that same mentality undermined Light’s thoughts, regardless of his conscience goal. That is why he died.

On a little bit less intricate note,

Cool blood shed~! I personally was kind of glad that Matsuda finally took action in a good way. He shot his wrist from at least 10 yards! That’s awesome aiming by any action movie standard!

Also, what did the second Kira do to kill himself that way? Was he stabbing himself? His blood shot out like a sprinkler! O.o

And, the original L is so much better than Mello and Near. Truly, they disappointed. I would have liked to have seen L win..well, when he was alive.

Near was a copy-cat and Mello was creepy and added nothing of interest to the story, I feel.

I enjoyed! Can’t wait for the DVD’s. I’ve got a feeling this will be on TV in America soon and that it’ll become enormously popular, apart from its estranged ending!

Omg guys even if the guy killed near and the team ryuuk would have killed light some point in time…resulting no side won…
hope you shit-faces would understand that!

71. KIRA schrieb am 08. September 2007 um 4:29 am

We need a new ending this one was ok, but this is Death note not some crappy anime we need a great ending I hope that they have another ending where Light wins so we can all be happy and people decide which ending they like best and that’s it every will be happy but then again in this world no mater what you do someone will not like it. Everybody hate Near why? simple he is not L and no one will ever be L. I think if they were going to kill Light it should have L who should have kill him not Near that is why this ending wasn’t great no one can replace L. But if Light won it would have ended him celebrating that he smarter that Near and we will get a preview of the perfect world. I need to see an alternative ending come on this is death note. Love it.

Kira

72. Hyperion schrieb am 08. September 2007 um 3:56 pm

For the genius horseman:

If light would have succeeded in killing near and the team, equals with winning. Without near and the team nobody could have stopped him creating the new world. No one had the knowledge about the note and etc so light couldn’t be stopped. So he would have succeeded in creating the new world and after many many years surely he would have found a guy worthy to take his place and continue his work (similar with the succession of L so you can understand better). So even if he died there will always be someone to continue of being Kira. Thus, he would have won.
But, instead, he lost his control. As a last resort, I would have tried to, unnoticeable that is, write near’s name on the piece of death note he had in the watch. Those sudden moves gave him away so he was shot.

To conclude, if light would have killed near and the team, he would have won! I hope you understand this simple logic and stop calling others names based on a stupid and false idea.
Take care

74. I schrieb am 09. September 2007 um 2:07 am

For everybofy… has anyone saw the second movie of death note? Well i did..and in that movie..Light’s father get’s to know that his son is Kira..and what he said gives the answer to all of us: “It’s true… law is mperfect because humans make it and humans aren’t perfect..but the existences of laws ad the actions of some people shows that there is still some good.. and that people are fighting for justice”. I too agree with light that there are criminals that should die (in fact i think that I would have done the sam thing) but that doesn’t mean that is right. “Nobody has the right to judge” means that nobody must say you’re bad because you killed or done this or that… the judgement is only about peoples actions nothing else…but light judged the value of people..law and judges don’tdo the same thing: they only seek for the balance of society and of the law system…nothing else.

I agree with Real (comment 14). Very well said. ^^

Near is an amazing character, and whomever was the 15th to comment, I dislike the way you just chose to disagree and insult Real. Just because you love Light Yagami doesn’t mean everyone has to be on his side, even if Real was.

But anyway, this was a VERY suspenseful and AWESOME ending! What Near did to win that L however did not do was go for it. L decided to just chain together with Light and observe more when Near just caught Light, assuming he was Kira with a high level of confidence. It’s also what would’ve saved L…

You do realize that Near is from the United States, right? Why would we “bomb his ass in ww3″ if he is working for us?

80. UchihaRyken schrieb am 14. September 2007 um 12:53 am

Oh, and to “yuki,” comment 61:

In the manga, Light dies much differently. He doesn’t run out of that room, as he is dying, he asks Ryuk to kill everyone. Ryuk says “Alright,” and starts writing in his Death Note. The agents and the task force officers start shooting, but, of course, they can’t kill a Shinigami. Light laughs and tells them that it’s too late, they are all going to die. Ryuk says “No, Light, the one who’s going to die… is you.” He reveals that he has written all but the last two letters of Light’s name. Light gets up and lunges at Ryuk, yelling at him to stop, but goes right through him.

Ryuk says: “No matter how I look at it, you’ve lost, Light. I was kind of expecting you to get out of this one, but if I’m your last resort… you’re done for.”

As Light is waiting the 40 seconds until death, he has a flashback to talking to Ryuk about dying.

Ryuk says “Don’t think a human who has used the Death Note can go to Heaven or Hell.”

Light says “That just means that there is no Heaven or Hell, doesn’t it?”

“… you really are something Light. I thought all humans seriously believed in Heaven and Hell, but… yeah. You’re absolutely right. There is no Heaven or Hell. No matter what you do when you’re alive, everybody goes to the same place once you die. Death Is Equal.”

One “How To Use” page in the manga says that once a human dies, they go to “MU,” a Japanese term for “nothingness.”

note to everyone:
light was a power-hungry megalomaniac with a god complex
of course he was going to die
he had become heartless and completely self-absorbed
yes, he’s an amazing character, and you can’t help sympathizing with him throughout the course of the show
but ultimately, Near had to win
having light win would basically be saying
“hey kids, making yourself a god and taking over the world is a-okay and will no possible repercussions. feel free to silently judge people from afar.

oh, and the manga death sounds awesome. i should go look for that at the bookstore sometime. and they did show the MU thing during this episode, if i’m not mistaken

You guys are so stupid….I agree with comment 24, I mean, it’s just not who’s “cool” or who killed more people (supposedly making the murderer cool)
Light does NOT have a right to judge anyone, and if he did take over, he would be ruling over fear. Comment 81 is also another comment that makes sense (and that someone actually used their brain to write) Near is my favorite character because he’s not Light and L was way to rash in believing the fake rules that Light made to gain innocence. I laughed when Light died, because I remember Ryuk saying that he would be the one to kill Light in the end. I hope Light has fun in a place worse then hell (the place all Deathnote users go, Nowhere)

Comment 82: Light is going the same place as everyone else. Death is Equal. Straight from the manga.

A kind of a dissapointing ending , but you had to see it pretty much coming that it wasn’t going to end well when L died.

92. LEMONS schrieb am 04. November 2007 um 6:49 am

LOL You’re all so stupid D= Why the hell should Near have died? In the end L was supposed to be the hero of this series and since Mello/Near were the extention of L after he died they worked together to finish off the deed that needed to be finished: KILLING KIRA. By saying that Light is better then Near you say that he is also better then L and even though L ended up being Killed Light was the still and forever will be the one with stupid ideolgy of what “Justice” is. Even though the way he carried out his actions might have been smart it was still based around the idea of an ideaoligical world where people who do bad things always die and that cannot be. By making Light die in the end it is showing that this ideal can never happen and that you cannot try to create a perfect world without first contradicting yourself. As much as I love Mello I knew that it was essential for him to die in order for the task of Kira being killed to be completed so stop crying like little bitches ~.~

93. Sirhiro schrieb am 14. November 2007 um 2:07 pm

You could tell Light was going to die along with L because when L and Light were cuffed together L made the comment of:
“These Chains, represent our destiny, and it will end the same”
or something like that :P

94. BlAcK schrieb am 17. November 2007 um 4:12 am

Everytime i watch this ending, really makes me sad, even though light killed hundreds of people, its kinda sad to see him die.

95. HatedTheLameEnding schrieb am 18. November 2007 um 9:23 pm

Unforgivably lame ending to a really kick ass anime.

Light should have been able to kill Near and all his SPK guys just by knowing where they would be, when and the name and face of a single person: “blonde chick goes nuts and kills every motherf*cker in the room”

The end.

Light would never go down so easily. Total cop out ending. Way to drop the ball.

96. Realize schrieb am 20. November 2007 um 4:19 am

first off u knew the ending of the story already since the first episode if u had any brains, the good guy always wins and the bad guy loses, only they made u want the bad guy 2 win, so i think the ending shouldve just been they all die, near the fbi light, that would of made u som wat happy instead of pissed that the fuking 2 year old won, feel free to tell me im wrong

97. Realize schrieb am 20. November 2007 um 4:21 am

also y did they make light so gay in the last episiode? i think the series should ve ended after the fist L died just so it would ve been the perfect series, also they should mak a new death note series without the same characters but u know…not so gay

98. Ryuk schrieb am 20. November 2007 um 10:26 pm

What made you think Light deserves to win?

(1) He is by far the best-looking/coolest character in the entire series?

(2) He killed many innocent people who just happened to get in his way, including comtemplating to kill his family members should he need to?

(3) He is the protagonist or rather, the bad (yet cool-looing) guy?

99. thats what it is schrieb am 25. November 2007 um 9:10 pm

109. shoopdawoop schrieb am 17. February 2008 um 6:42 am

i dont beleive light died a virgin, misa asked to sleep with him several times, in one of those 5 or so years, im sure he did.

he didnt plan things out as well as he could have. keeping an entire page hidden would’ve ensured their deaths, he also could have potentially gotten away with a ‘I discard it’, meaning N would then possess it, id also have gone to the meeting are beforehand, if possible, and rigged it, studied the interior, and planned some sort of emergency escape or regroup, and knowing where the meeting place was, he could have set up a ladder or created some sort of peephole in the wall; in the end, the blind confidence he thought so badly or N for is exactly what became his downfall. Power reduced him to a desperate, careless fool. His plan to try and getN to kill him was interesting, though. To get him to use the notebook, and, in turn, be rejected from both heaven and hell. Some of the ‘How to Use’ comments contradicted themselves, though. One says any user of the deathnote will not be allowed to go to heaven nor hell, however, another says that human death is innevitable, and that once they die, they simply go to ‘nothingness’, anyways, I still liked Elfen Lied better. Light and ‘L’s mind-games were the most interesting, the rest was too predictable. I also didn’t like how Misa lost the majority of her intelligence after the time gap, where Light began to treat her more like a tool, and after losing her notebook, she became totally different than her previous personalities.
Long comment. Watching this all in one sitting left me with too many flaws and disappointments, now I have to go work out the kink in my back.

We’ll call the police, we don’t have a clown statue.” The “clown statue” is really a killer that escaped from jail. 113. Near's successor schrieb am 17. April 2008 um 9:16 pm

First I would like to say that I loved the ending in the anime for this one of a kind show that can’t be topped by any other anime out there. Now that that’s out of the way, how come so many people agreed with Light’s actions?! He was a mass murderer who dared to dream of becoming a god. Light is only a human like us, he should have known he would die like anyone else. And theres only one god of heaven and earth,Jesus Christ. I love how Light dies, a heart attack. He sent countless people to their deaths just because they were criminals and he killed many good innocent people who fought for truth and justice. Light is nothing more than a bastard who got off of killing people he didn’t like. Only God is allowed to take life, for He gave life. I am very pleased at knowing Light can’t enter heaven, yet I am also sad, only because he can’t go to Hell. And for those who think Near and all the others who brought down a mass murderer should die, what the hell is wrong with ya’ll?! Even though this is just a show, it pains me greatly knowing that people would want the murderer to live so he could continue to kill, while the good guys die. That’s not how it goes. Evil will one day be defeated, but not by a mere human who writes down names and tries to exalt himself above Jesus Christ. For those people out there who hate Near because he’s not L, so what? Near is L’s successor. He was supposed to be better than L ever could be. I’ve seen many people say Light should have beaten Near because “Light is better” but that’s wrong. Light had to get someone else to kill L, since Light wasn’t capable of doing it himself. So if he couldn’t beat the master, what makes you think he could beat that master’s successor? Light had many years to prepare for someone else coming for him, but he grew relaxed, and went unchallenged. And besides, do you think Light really should have won if he lost to a kid who plays with toys and sits on the floor through the whole show? Oh, and Misa killed herself. If you would stop complaining about the ending, you would see Misa was about to jump off that huge building. Wikipedia confirmed that Misa jumped although the anime didn’t show it, and in the manga, Misa killed herself a year later. Ryuk probably didn’t get his Note back since Near had Misa’s note and the other one is still buried. The ending of this show is a fitting end to a monster who dared dream of becoming god. It was a powerful struggle between good and evil, but Light got cocky at the end, and announced he had won too early. That was what killed him in the end. His ego, thinking that no one was better than him, his way of killing off his only allies, and him believing the lie he told himself every day, that was what brought him down in the end.

114. Near's successor schrieb am 17. April 2008 um 9:53 pm

Now that I look back on all the comments, I only see a few people agreeing with what I have said. I can’t believe there are people out there who think a better ending to this show would have been killing off the good guys. Light had this coming from the first day he saw the notebook. Not only did Light kill others, he made many of them kill themselves. If someone kills their self, they will be damned to Hell. I know many of you have the right to choose your favorite character on this show, but I am glad that I never chose Light. He seemed like the type that would just snap if he was given the chance, and with the notebook, he did snap. He tried to make the world a better place, and while trying to help the world is a good thing, you people must realize that this world can’t be helped. It has been going downhill since the time of the first sin. Light only killed criminals since he believed they were causing problems. But criminals aren’t what’s wrong with today’s society. What’s wrong is that people don’t give a damn what is happening, so long as they can get what they can before they die. Comment Number 48, I agree that criminals shoyuld be punished, but only murderers, for they have taken life and that is unforgivable. But to kill off people that may renounce their past crimes and become better members of society is messed up in so many ways. Light never gave those people a chance to atone, he just killed because the news said they committed a crime. And Light killed many innocent people that tried to do what was right. If they were doing that but only not against him, you would be alright with that? that’s messed up. It seems like many of us are trying to group up criminals into their own little group and we deem them as unworthy of being human so Light used that to justify his actions when he took their lives. Comment number 44, you wanted Light to die with a “little more DIGNITY’? Alright, he can die with dignity, although he was a mass murderer, he killed off his allies, he killed off his friends, and he forced an entire world to submit to him. A better world can’t be built by one man who rules them all. It takes everyone helping out to make this world better. But in the end, we all die and this world gets rotten with each passing moment. Many people here have commented that killing off many bad people is justifiable since it would save many other innocents from dying. WRONG!!!!! There will always be murder until the end of this world, there will always be criminals until Jesus comes to judge us all, and there will always be Evil until it is bound for all eternity. Comment number 59, the reason why the law judges people is because they were appointed to do so by a higher power. Now if we leave God out of this and look at it a different way, the law judges people because without it we would all kill and be killed with no one to stop it. Someone had to step up and decide what was right and what was wrong. It is true that since we are humans, we have no right to pass judgment on others for we have judged many people ourselves. And since we have no right to judge for ourselves, we appoint someone who can judge. But trusting that one judge isn’t enough, we have to ask 12 jusy members what they think is right. WE humans aren’t qualified to judge on our own so we get many people to judge for us or we pray to our religion’s god for his divine judgement. Comment number 61, I think Light may have went to a place that continuously haunts him with the deaths of all the people he killed. That place, where I think he went to, may probably have him being killed over and over by the same ways he killed off all those people. It would serve him right if that was what happened to him. Either that, or he went to “Nothingness” like the anime said. and since many of these comments revolve around hating Near, L knew he would die so he chose the only 2 candidates who were capable of succeeding him, Near and Mello. Mello sucks really, although if it weren’t for him, Near wouldn’t have been able to trap Light. And Near isn’t as exciting as L, but Near said that he lacks the “dynamics” of L while Mello lacks the “composure” of L, and so when they teamed up, they surpassed L. Also please read the manga chapter 109, it will wrap up any quesations ya’ll might have. I suppose I’m done commenting, since I have finally voiced my opinion like ya’ll have. I apologize if I offended anyone in any way, and I am really happy to see Light die. The manga had him screaming more in the end and it was fast it seemed, while the anime slowed it down so we could enjoy his final moments as a broken human.

I always liked L more than Light. I kind of relate to him more. He was smarter than Light, but not as ruthless. That’s why Light was able to defeat him. I was unhappy that anybody but L would defeat Light, but he was beaten–and beaten by a worthy adversary. This show isn’t about physical strength. It’s very mental. Near was smarter, and his plan was amazing. The ending rocked. Deal with it, then go watch Ergo Proxy, another amazing anime.
